BPALC

BPALC documented its retail and SME core-banking estate ahead of Groupe BPCE platform consolidation.

BPALC, the Banque Populaire regional bank serving Alsace, Lorraine and Champagne-Ardenne, holds core retail and SME banking workloads on a long-running COBOL estate. As Groupe BPCE moved cooperative banks toward shared core platforms, BPALC needed a single, reviewed reference covering accounts, payments, overnight reconciliation and SEPA flows — not just for the migration team, but for ongoing audit, change planning and SME knowledge transfer.

COBOLpro analysed the estate from source, generated dependency maps and program-level documentation, and ran structured review sessions with the long-tenured engineers who had owned each subsystem. The resulting package ties production code to business intent across deposit, payment and reconciliation domains, including the edge cases that previously lived only in tribal knowledge.

BPALC's change managers, internal audit, and the BPCE programme team now share one source-of-truth reference. Documentation requests that previously pulled COBOL specialists out of operational work are answered against the reviewed package instead — protecting both day-to-day delivery and the pace of the BPCE consolidation roadmap.
